This is the concise English guide. The Turkish edition includes the extended itinerary and planning notes.
Viewing the tower and visiting it are different plans
You can see the Maiden’s Tower from the Salacak shore without taking a boat. To visit the tower itself, plan transport and tickets separately and check the official site for current departures, services and visiting conditions. Look for same-day notices about weather and sea conditions too.
History before legend
The tower’s official history describes its changing roles, including service as a lighthouse. The legends associated with it belong to a different layer of storytelling from that documented past. Alongside the romantic stories, consider navigation and passage through the Bosphorus as you look at the view.
Plan sunset around the light
Sunset time changes with the season. Check the time for your date and arrive a little early so you can choose a comfortable spot rather than rush for a photograph. Clouds, wind and visibility affect the view; no particular colour or image is guaranteed.
Small preparations make the walk easier
A light layer for wind, comfortable shoes and a charged phone are useful along the shore. Keep pedestrian routes clear while taking photographs and maintain a safe distance from the water’s edge. With children, shorten the outing and return according to their pace.
Before returning, check the current route to the square’s transport connections or your accommodation. Pairing this walk with Kuzguncuk or Beylerbeyi on another day can be more relaxed than trying to cover the entire shoreline at once.
